EventMobi has just acquired Toronto-based education startup Understoodit, an innovative tool that allows educators to instantly determine the comprehension level of their students. Understoodit’s experience with live polling and web-based audience response technology will further enhance EventMobi’s offering for speakers and event planners in the event industry.
EventMobi is a web and mobile app platform that makes it easy for event planners to create and customize their own event app for meetings and conferences. Instead of traditional printed show guides, EventMobi offers an innovative tool that features personalized agendas, attached documents, private in-app chat, maps, surveys, and various other tools to enhance face-to-face events.
Over the past year, the Understoodit team, consisting of Liam Kaufman, Andrew Spinner, and David Misshula, have developed a product successfully used at a number of educational institutions including the University of Toronto and Purdue University.
Understoodit founder Liam Kaufman explains, “we’ve enjoyed providing a product that educators can use to enhance their students’ experience. It’s a thrill to bring our knowledge and expertise to EventMobi where engaging education is at the core of the product."
EventMobi’s latest acquisition is a highlight of an exciting 16 months of growth. In 2011, EventMobi was a 5-person startup working out of a co-working space in Toronto and today, with offices in the United States and Germany, the bootstrapped company welcomed its 25th employee to the team with more to join in coming weeks.
“We are excited to welcome the passionate and talented team of Understoodit to EventMobi as we continue to add value for our clients by building products and services that improve engagement and education for attendees."
With a comprehensive cross-platform mobile technology for events and conferences, EventMobi has been gaining major momentum thanks to its customizable, easy-to-use platform. Now available in over 15 languages, EventMobi is becoming the go-to event app for small and large corporations and non-profit associations around the world.
As a part of the acquisition, EventMobi will be donating to the Upside Foundation, which supports Canadian charities through partnerships with startups and high-growth companies.
